Meditation On The Wounds of Christ.

In the garden, His sweating blood was not inflicted by the hand of man, but by the sin of man. This is the cause of the crucifixion, this is the cup He must drink.

The first wound of Jesus by man was, perhaps, the most painful of all. The kiss of betraysl by one he loved. A sword through the heart is more painful than any sword through the body.

The next wounds were inflicted by the soldiers. The hits with fists and clubs, the binding with chains, and being dragged away. Add the shame heaped on the Lord of love when He was spat upon, mocked, and laughed at.

Then the scourging. His flesh torn to pieces, top to bottom, back and front. So much blood!

This King is now crowned with thorns. The profusion of blood fills His eyes and ears and, with the pain, drowns out the world. For the moment. But the soldiers beat His head with a reed painfully bringing Him back to this cruel world.

Pilate condemnes the innocent man to death. A cross is placed upon His shoulders, and, as He carried it, dug into His shoulders creating a deep wound. As He walked, He fell 3 times further cutting His knees and hands.

On golgotha, the soldiers tore the clock from His body taking with it any skin that was attached to it.

Then the nails. I can’t imagine the pain. Searing pain flooding His whole body. What have I done?

What anguish did it cause Him to see His mother suffer so. Truly, He could see a sword pierce her heart.

It is finished! Now a sword pierced His heart. I am saved!
