Family Rosary Confraternity

This site is under construction!  Please be patient with us troglodytes.

Praying together to grow in love, unity and holiness.

Raising a good family requires love, strength, patience and above all prayer. Unless you’re living in a bubble, you know that the family is under attack by the secular society. Abortion is epidemic in the world today. France has made it a constitutional right to kill babies, and Ireland, of all places, has legalized it. Our children are manipulated, molested, mangled and murdered by a woke culture. And what do we do? Jesus and Mary have told us what to do, but do we listen? No!!

I have a proposal.

Why pray the Rosary?

There are many reasons to pray the Rosary.  At Fatima, our holy Mother bid us to pray the Rosary daily.   Jesus told us to pray always.   Praying the Rosary together as a family brings peace, unity, and strength into your home. In a world full of distractions and worries, setting aside time each day to reflect on the life of Christ and the love of Mary helps center your hearts on what truly matters. It strengthens the bond between family members through shared faith and intention. The Rosary is not just repetition—it’s a powerful spiritual weapon and a source of comfort. By praying together, you invite God’s grace into your lives, deepen your love for one another, and grow closer to heaven, one prayer at a time.

How to Pray the Rosary

The purpose of the Rosary is to help keep in memory certain principal events in the history of our salvation. There are twenty mysteries reflected upon in the Rosary, and these are divided into the five Joyful Mysteries (said on Monday and Saturday), the five Luminous Mysteries (optional, said on Thursday), the five Sorrowful Mysteries (said on Tuesday and Friday), and the five Glorious Mysteries (said on Wednesday and Sunday). As an exception, the Joyful Mysteries may be said on Sundays during Advent and Christmas, while the Sorrowful Mysteries may be said on the Sundays of Lent.

The question is sometimes asked, why, of all the incidents in our Lord’s life, the Rosary only considers these particular twenty. The mysteries of the Rosary are based on the incidents in the life of Our Lord and His Mother that are celebrated in the Liturgy. There is a parallel between the main feasts honoring our Lord and his Mother in the liturgical year, and the twenty mysteries of the Rosary. Consequently, one who recites the twenty mysteries of the Rosary in one day reflects on the whole liturgical cycle that the Church commemorates during the course of each year. That is why some of the Popes have referred to the Rosary as a compendium of the Gospel. One cannot change the mysteries of the Rosary without losing the indulgences that the Church grants for the recitation of the Rosary.

Some experience

All the prayers of the Rosary are available (in multiple languages).

The steps to praying the Rosary are:

  1. Make the Sign of the Cross and pray the “Apostles’ Creed”
  2. Pray the “Our Father”
  3. Pray three “Hail Marys” for Faith, Hope, and Charity
  4. Pray the “Glory Be”
  5. Announce the First Mystery and then pray the “Our Father”
  6. Pray ten “Hail Marys” while meditating on the Mystery
  7. Pray the “Glory Be” (Optional: Pray the “O My Jesus” prayer requested by Mary at Fatima)
  8. Announce the Next Mystery; then pray the “Our Father” and repeat these steps (6 through 8) as you continue through the remaining Mysteries.
  9. Pray the closing prayers: the “Hail Holy Queen” and “Final Prayer”
  10. Make the “Sign of the Cross”

Pope Saint John Paul II suggested the recitation of the Rosary as follows: the JOYFUL mysteries Monday and Saturday, the LUMINOUS on Thursday, the SORROWFUL on Tuesday and Friday, and the GLORIOUS on Wednesday and Sunday (with this exception; Sundays of Advent and Christmas – the JOYFUL; Sundays of Lent – the SORROWFUL). Here is a chart:

Monday JOYFUL
Tuesday SORROWFUL
Wednesday GLORIOUS
Thursday JOYFUL
  (or LUMINOUS if desired)
Friday SORROWFUL
Saturday GLORIOUS
(or JOYFUL, if LUMINOUS on Thursday)
Sundays of Advent and Christmas JOYFUL
Sundays of Lent SORROWFUL
Other Sundays GLORIOUS

Praying the family Rosary together is a powerful way to strengthen both faith and family bonds. First, it brings the family closer to God, helping each member grow spiritually through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Second, it fosters unity, creating a shared time of peace and reflection amidst busy lives. Third, it teaches children the value of prayer and devotion, shaping their spiritual foundation from a young age. Fourth, it invites God’s protection and grace into the home, as countless saints and popes have affirmed the Rosary as a spiritual shield. Fifth, it allows families to intercede for one another, lifting up intentions and supporting each other in faith. Sixth, it promotes peace of heart and mind, offering a moment of calm and hope in a troubled world. Finally, the family Rosary fulfills Mary’s request at Fatima, responding to her call for daily prayer to bring about peace and conversion in the world.

In coming together to pray the Rosary, families not only deepen their love for God and one another, but also participate in a centuries-old tradition that has transformed countless lives. Join us in this beautiful devotion—because a family that prays together truly stays together.
